How It Works
At Premium Bespoke AutoWorks, every steering wheel is built to the same standard. The only things that change are how much you customise and how quickly you receive it.
There are two ways to buy a PBAW steering wheel. Build Your Own, where you choose every detail, or In Stock, where the wheel is already built and ready to ship. Both give you the same craftsmanship, the same materials and the same finish.
This page explains the differences, what to expect at each stage, and how to choose the right option for you. If you build your own, you will see a visual of your exact wheel before you pay for it.

Build Your Own
Your wheel, your way.
A fully custom steering wheel built from the ground up to your specification. You make every meaningful decision: the shape, the materials on the top and bottom, the grip type, stitching colours and pattern, extras like an LED display or heated function, and finishing touches like a 12 o’clock band or contoured grips.
You do not need to send us your wheel. We supply a complete new wheel, ready for your fitter, and you keep your original.
When you send us a Build Your Own spec, our UK based team reviews it and emails you a free design proof, a visual of your exact wheel, usually within a few hours and always within one working day. Nothing is charged and nothing is built until you have seen it and told us you are happy. Once you approve and pay, your wheel is hand built using the materials you have chosen, quality checked and shipped to you.
What you decide
When you start a Build Your Own configuration, you’ll work through 13+ choices including:
- Shape round, flat bottom, or contoured
- Top section material Alcantara, leather, perforated leather, or carbon fibre
- Bottom section material same options as the top, mixed for visual contrast
- Grip type standard, contoured, or thumb rest
- Stitching colour and pattern single or contrast stitching in any of our standard colours
- 12 o’clock band coloured marker stripe at the top of the wheel, optional
- Carbon fibre finish gloss, matte, or forged carbon
- Trim accents Alcantara wraps, painted inserts, or carbon trim pieces
- LED display optional digital readout for shift points and gear position (from £149)
- Heated function retains your heated wheel functionality (£149)
You will see a full summary of your build before you send it, and a visual design proof before you pay.
10 to 25 working days from when your order is paid for, not from when you send your spec. The exact timing depends on material availability and the complexity of your build.
Starting from £299 for the base configuration, depending on your vehicle. The final price reflects your material and add-on choices, and is confirmed with your design proof before you pay anything.
In Stock
Ready when you are.
In Stock wheels are already built and ready to ship. These are typically cancelled custom orders, surplus production or ex demonstration units that have been quality checked and are available at standout prices.
What you see in the photos is exactly what ships. There’s no customisation, no waiting and no build queue.

- A 14 day return window (since you can see exactly what you’re buying)
How it works
In Stock listings come and go. If a wheel is listed, it’s available. When it sells, the listing is removed. We don’t take backorders for In Stock items. If you want that exact spec built again, order it as a Build Your Own and we will send you a design proof first.
In Stock wheels are typically priced lower than the equivalent custom build, since the production cost has already been absorbed. Each listing shows its full specification and price.
What’s included with every PBAW wheel
Whichever way you order, every wheel comes with:
- The completed steering wheel built to spec, finished and quality checked
- Optional electronics when you order an LED display or heated function, the relevant components are integrated during the build
- A protective transport case for safe shipping
- A 12 month warranty
Buttons, paddles and airbags
By default, your fitter moves your existing airbag, paddle shifters, multi-function buttons and trim pieces from your original wheel onto your new one. We do not supply airbags, and we do not include replacement buttons as standard, as these parts are specific to your vehicle and stay with your car.
If you are upgrading from an older wheel to a newer design, for example swapping a pre-LCI wheel for an LCI design, your original airbag will usually not fit, so you will need to supply an airbag for the newer wheel. The buttons and decoder needed for the upgrade are supplied with your build. See our steering wheel upgrades.
If you would prefer new buttons or paddles rather than moving your originals, let us know when ordering and we will quote and supply them with the wheel.

Heated function, what to know
Many modern vehicles have a heated steering wheel from new. We can retain this function on most builds for an additional £149.
When heated function is available
- Your vehicle was originally equipped with a heated wheel
- The heating element and wiring are intact and working
- Your vehicle make and model is supported (most BMW, Mercedes-AMG and Audi models from 2015 onwards are supported)
When heated function isn’t available
- Your vehicle wasn’t originally heated, we cannot add heating to a vehicle that didn’t have it
- The heating circuit in your existing wheel is damaged or not working
- Your specific model isn’t on our supported list, contact us before ordering if you’re unsure
If you’re not sure whether your wheel is heated, check your vehicle’s spec sheet or look for a heating button on the dashboard or steering wheel itself.
Compatibility, making sure your wheel fits
Every PBAW wheel is a complete new wheel built to fit your vehicle’s steering column and electronics. You do not need to send us your original wheel. This means:
- Your airbag moves across. Same fit, no replacement needed. If you are upgrading to a newer wheel design, you will need to supply an airbag for the newer wheel.
- Your paddle shifters move across. If your car has paddles, they fit the new wheel.
- Your multi-function buttons stay yours. Volume, cruise control and voice control buttons all reattach.
Before ordering, confirm:
- Your vehicle make, model and year
- Whether your wheel is heated (if you want heating retained)
- Whether you have multi-function buttons or paddle shifters
Most of this is shown in our configurator, where you’ll select your vehicle from our compatibility list. If your vehicle isn’t listed, contact us before ordering. We add support for new vehicles regularly and may be able to help.
Installation
PBAW wheels are designed to be installed by a qualified specialist. We don't fit wheels ourselves and we don't maintain a list of recommended installers.
What's involved
Installation typically takes 1 to 2 hours and involves:
- Disconnecting the battery and waiting for the airbag system to discharge
- Removing the original wheel from the steering column
- Moving the airbag, multi-function buttons and paddle shifters to the new wheel
- Connecting the new wheel and refitting
- Checking for fault codes
For wheels with LED displays or added heating, additional wiring connections are made during installation. Installation should be carried out by a qualified auto specialist familiar with airbag-equipped vehicles. We recommend a fitter with experience in aftermarket modifications and steering wheel work. Shipping
We ship worldwide.
- UK: Free tracked next day delivery once your wheel is built
- Europe: 3 to 5 working days
- Rest of world: 5 to 10 working days, depending on destination
Build Your Own wheels going to the USA include delivery and import duty in the price, nothing to pay on arrival. For other countries, shipping is calculated at checkout and any import duties and taxes are the customer's responsibility and are not included in the order total.
Returns and cancellations
Build Your Own
Because these wheels are built to your specification, they cannot be returned or cancelled once production has started. We send a free design proof, a visual of your exact wheel, and confirm your spec in writing before production begins. That is your window to make changes or cancel without charge.
If your wheel arrives damaged or doesn’t match your confirmed spec, contact us within 7 days of delivery and we’ll put it right.
In Stock
In Stock wheels can be returned within 14 days of delivery, provided they’re unused, undamaged and in the original packaging. The customer is responsible for return shipping. A refund is issued within 5 working days of receiving the returned wheel.
